I have a firearm ban from 4 years ago, I believe it lasts 10 years. I never committed a violent crime but did utter threats and here I am now. I have a family member who is probably the most avid outdoorsmen you will ever meet who is in failing health and has mobility issues . I’m hoping this year I can help him go on one final hunt , would I be breaking my firearms ban if I’m in the presence of a gun but not physically touching it ?
I’ve never been a big gun person so at the time the firearms ban didn’t mean a thing to me but now I wish more than anything on earth it wasn’t something I had to deal with . Even if you cant really offer any info on this , where would I contact to find out more ? Would I contact the local courthouse or would I have to involve a lawyer . I doubt I can get it lifted but I just want to know if I can be in the general vicinity of a gun.

Potential consequences for being in the presence of a firearm while banned
Questions Answered:
Being in the presence of a firearm while under a firearms ban can still be considered a violation, even if you are not physically touching the gun. The terms of your specific ban, including any restrictions on proximity to firearms, would need to be reviewed to determine if you would be breaking the ban by being near a gun.
To find out more information about your specific firearms ban and any potential exceptions or limitations, it would be advisable to contact a lawyer who specializes in firearms law. They can provide guidance on the legal implications of your situation and advise you on the best course of action.
While it may be challenging to get your firearms ban lifted, consulting with a lawyer can help clarify your options and provide you with a better understanding of the legal consequences of being in the presence of a firearm.

Compliance with the Ban: Until you have clarity on the legal implications of being near a firearm while under a ban, it is advisable to err on the side of caution and avoid any situations that could potentially violate the terms of the ban.
